Worldwide Conflict

The Second World War lasted from 1939 to 1945. It was the most widespread, mobilizing war with over 100 million soldiers from 61 nations, and hostilities covering over 20 million square km. Nearly two-thirds of those killed in the war were civilians. And for the first time, two nuclear weapons were used by the United States in combat.
